New Website, New platform: Enhancing the User Experience across the Whole User Journey

Wanting to recreate the in-store experience, Live Clothing collaborated with Clue to update their existing website. The challenge was to retain the classic look and feel of Live, but reduce the friction points across the purchasing process.

Developing eCommerce as a pivotal arm of the business

Previously, eCommerce was an afterthought for Live Clothing with their strong retail presence. They wanted to expand on their success and start competing with others online. To do so however, they needed to drastically improve the user experience (UX) of the site. My role was to discover these pain-points and redesign the site from the ground up on Shopify.

Creating a seamless eCommerce experience for customers, and backend users

The new Live Clothing site was to be built on Shopify, a platform that would allow many different ways to integrate to Live's existing systems. Shopify would also allow for flexibility in managing and customising the site after we had finished the build.

An exciting design and data challenge that I was eager to tackle

In addition to creating a simple and seamless eCommerce user experience, another challenge I was faced with was with content. The interesting challenge here that was unique to Live Clothing was that both written content and images would not be consistent across the site. This led to a number of design and data management problems to solve.

Live Clothing had an exisiting infrastructure set up with its product data. With its already existing and large scale retail presence, it was up to us to integrate into their current systems. This was done through data manipulation and data management, and setting up the Shopify in a way to make this process automatic and seamless. This was done with the help of plugins and a tagging system.

The important of responsive design and dynamic content layouts

The design challenge required me to come up with a user interface (UI) solution that allowed for flexibility across multiple image sizes and different types of content. The largely came down to the implementation for the designs, making sure multiple image sizes and different text formatting would display correctly on the site. Any missing content or additional content would display correctly and not be jarring for the users.

Simple content management, flexibility and an optimised customer experience

The project left Live Clothing with a strong foundation to build future growth online. From seamless integration with their existing infrastructure, to a fresh design, Live was ready to expand their offering online.

A new revenue stream to support a strong retail presence

Creating eCommerce designs is one of my favourite things to do, primarily because a lot of the process is many small steps on a problem solving journey. Each client has their own requirements and niche problems they wish to overcome, and I love to take these challenges head on. It was no different with Live. They had their own set of challenges that I was happy to dive head first into and come out the other side with a successful product.
